Summer SWAC 2025
Summer Supper with a Cause was a beautiful celebration of food, community, and purpose. The evening was a fundraiser supporting the McKinney Roots continued investment in our agricultural equipment, our John Deere 575E tractor. A vital piece of farm equipment helping us to meet our mission of providing healthy, nutrient dense food to those in need in our community.
Our founder and President of the Seed Project Foundation, Rick Wells, kicked the night off by emphasizing the great need that McKinney Roots fills in the community by providing organic produce to those who are in need in our community.
Resident artist of the quarter, Laura Miller, spoke about feeding your soul with art and how food has inspired her work.
Chef Andrea Shackelford of Harvest at The Masonic curated an amazing menu, made with locally sourced food. The menu included a Crispy Shrimp and Watermelon appetizer, a Tomato Burrata Salad, Pork & Okra Potato Hash Fritter, Rosewood Wagyu Bavette Steak with house-made tortillas, and a refreshing Melon Parfait, all paired with wines and curated cocktails.
